Art 4 All received a grant from the ELMC Education Fund in January this year.

They received a grant of £1830 to cover the project costs involved in taking the students to the Lowry Gallery, weekly sessions and later in the year an exhibition at Clitheroe Castle.

They have sent us this report:

I would like to send you a massive THANK YOU for the money you gave us so that we could take our students on a trip to The Lowry in Salford.

We set off from Clitheroe on a 54 seater bus hired from ExpressBus. Our driver was incredibly considerate and drove with great care. We arrived at the Lowry and were able to disembark right outside where we had a wheel chair waiting along with the Artist Michelle Leigh.

Michelle met us at the door and guided us through the gallery whilst there were no public present so that we had a very private view of Lowry ‘s work. She then took us to our classroom which was equipped ready for our art experience. Michelle taught us first how to draw a street using perspective. She then expanded this work to a Lowry inspired drawing using modern day Salford Docs and all the interesting architecture as well as drawing people from Lowry’s time.

For lunch we had ordered packed lunches for everyone made by Tim in Waddington which we took on the bus. The picnic was excellent and enjoyed by everybody.

All the students, support workers and family members loved the day. They were so engaged and enjoyed every aspect of the visit. We have bought the students Lowry colouring in books to use back home when we plan to complete a Lowry inspired Clitheroe street scene on canvases. This is planned for the new term in September, we can’t wait to do it and to show you all our work. Words cannot express how much this has meant not only to the students but also to the support workers, family members, volunteers and myself. ‘Thank you’ seems search on inadequate word but please be rest assured that this has really been our once in a lifetime experience for us all, thank you.
