The first Christmas Fair at Hewlett Court was, in the words of Gary Barlow, absolutely fantastic!!
We were visited by people from the local community, local Counsellors, Residents families and Brethren of the Province. Donations were given from our local suppliers Arthur Lane Nurseries, Pooles Produce, Greenmount Butchers, Summerseat Garden Centre and Booker along with a magnificent hamper from Egerton Lodge No 1392, Bury District, helping us to raise £485 on the raffle alone.
There were various stalls on the day, Hewlett Court tombola [thank you for the donations from the members of the Committee of Benevolence and local Lodges], the Body Shop, a Jewellery stall, Francis House, Confectionery and gifts. The weekend cook, Sarah, spent all Friday evening and very early Saturday morning baking some wonderful cakes with a beautiful matchmaker’s cake for the raffle.
There was a special surprise on the day when Father Christmas made an appearance accompanied by the Christmas Fairy!!! The children had written letters to Santa which they took to him in our very own grotto.
Thank you to the Friends of Hewlett Court Committee, Chaired by WBro Charles Ward, for their help and support and a huge thank you to our wonderful staff for their continued commitment and support.
