Each year, Saddleworth Rangers Rugby Club takes the under-15s team on a once-in-a lifetime rugby tour. This is not means-tested and the club fundraise for the preceding 2 years to achieve this through events and charitable donations. The Aim of the tour is both sporting and cultural but in order not to exclude anybody on fiscal grounds it is sought to provide it free of charge for ALL children in hope that nobody is denied the opportunity or made to feel that they are being segregated because of their own personal circumstances.

As part of the fundraising, the club provides every player with a tour-specific playing kit and corporate leisure wear for travelling and match days. The reason behind this is multi-faced, firstly because it portrays a positive image for the borough, ensures that none of the children who may not be able to afford the kit are singled out and provides them with a sense of belonging and community.

The ELMC approved the grant of £1530 to cover the costs of the playing kits.
