George Deer & Stephen Thomson presenting the cheque to Annette Hewitson
On 20th December 2017, Stephen Thomson and George Deer were delighted to present a cheque on behalf of the East Lancashire Masonic Charity to Barnabus, a Christian Homeless Charity based in Manchester. The grant for £916 was graciously received by the Centre Manager, Annette Hewitson.
Through their Drop-in Centre on Bloom St, in the very heart of Manchester, Barnabus provide help and support to the growing number of homeless and vulnerable people within the city. They aim to support their physical, emotional and spiritual needs; doing all they can to help them integrate back into mainstream society.
The grant will be used to purchase two laptops to run their book-keeping software and aid with the production of fundraising material.
George has long been a personal supporter of Barnabus and earlier this year, along with other members of Manchester’s Level Club, ran the Manchester 10k to raise much needed funds for them. He requested the grant, on behalf of Barnabus, through Arkscroll Lodge No 6594. Of which, both he and Stephen Thomson, City Sykes District Charity Steward, are members.
