On Sunday 1stJuly at 8.45 a.m. the district charity steward and his assistant had great pleasure in presenting an ELMC cheque for £650.00 to Clitheroe Castle Junior Park Run, to assist in purchasing equipment needed to hold the event. This is a non-profiting making event and run by volunteers. The park run is held every Sunday morning at 9.00 a.m. and is a series of 2 kilometre runs. On Sunday 1stJuly 70 children took part in the Park Run. The run is aimed at 4-14-year old children. However, this is not a race but benefits the participants by growing their confidence and improving their fitness whilst giving them opportunities for making new friends. As the children went through the warm up, it was announced there was children taking part from all over the East Ribble District, including some from Colne. As the participants complete more runs, they receive different coloured wrist bands, indicating how many kilometres they have achieved.
