Hewlett Court, as most of you will know, provides “Sheltered Housing” for our Province, caring for those of a certain age who still have the capacity to look after themselves. As a mark of the quality of care and the feeling of being made to feel at home was well presented when the family of Mrs Bessie Driver approached Hewlett Court to be the place to celebrate her 103rd birthday, among the friends and staff she knew whilst a resident.

Bessie originates from the Whitefield area and has two daughters, Mary and Margaret and together with their husbands, Bob and David, provided transport. All was well prepared for her arrival as the residents and staff gave her and her family a very warm welcome.

A light buffet was laid on and two birthday cakes were provided, one from the Hewlett Court and other by her family. Her son-in-law, Bob, took a photographic record of this special event. It proved a memorable day for Bessie reminding her of the happy times she spent at Hewlett Court. For a lady who has lived through two world wars, she is still very much aware of all that goes on around her and long may it last.
