Following on from the Education grant that was awarded to Andrew Perez to enable him to take part in the World Jiu Jitsu competition in Brazil, please read below information from his Father on Andrew’s achievements;
‘Andrew competed at the World Championship last Friday 26th July, and after very tough matches he managed to secure the victory and was crowned Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Champion for his division!
Andrew also took the opportunity whilst in the USA and competed at the IBJJF Orange County Summer International Open 2024 where he secured the gold medal. He competed at Jiu Jitsu World League Champions cup and also secured the gold medal, this competition was held at the Azuza Pacific University in San Diego, California. In total Andrew will be bringing back home to the UK and Rochdale, 3x Gold medals one of them being his World Champion title medal.
Andrew trained up to 8 hours a day while his time in USA all in preparation for the world championships, and his hard work and dedication has paid off. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our deepest gratitude to you for all your help and support towards Andrew to make this trip and his participation in the championship possible, without your support Andrew may not have been able to travel and make his dream come true. He left his Rochdale town’s name very high in the world and was proudly sharing with everyone in USA the wonderful support he received from his local council and councillors as he’s extremely grateful.
Again, thank you so very much for believing in Andrew; we’re very glad he was able to show you he could do it and bring back home the Gold. We’re beyond proud of him and can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.
