Sunday November 24th was a very special day for Hewlett Court resident Mrs Margaret Pemberton as it was her 100th birthday. This very special day was marked in the morning by a visit by the Provincial Grand Master, RWBro Sir David Trippier accompanied by Lady Ruth. Sir David and Lady Ruth wished Margaret well and spent nearly an hour chatting to the residents.
The celebrations continued in the afternoon with the arrival of the Mayor and Mayoress of Bury, Councillor Trevor Holt and Mrs Evelyn Holt who brought good wishes and joined Margaret in listening to violinist Katie Fiddlesticks, who played lots of favourites for the residents.
A packed lounge of residents and visitors drank a toast of Prosecco to Margaret’s health and then a magnificent birthday cake appeared. This beautiful cake was made at Hewlett Court by chef Maria.
Flowers, chocolates and other gifts were in abundance from residents and friends making what must surely be a day for Margaret to treasure in her memories.
