St Joseph’s RC Primary is a small primary school, based in Todmorden. Elizabeth Lloyd took over as Headteacher 18 months ago and has been making strong progress in improving the learning environment for the children. She identified early on that the school library (in particular the guided, staged reading books) was in desperate need of refreshing; however these books are very expensive and will cost £6500 in total. Martin Ross (SW of Prudence Lodge 219) who has two children at the school, was successful in securing a generous grant of £2000 towards the cost of the books from ELMC. In addition, he has chosen this good cause alongside a charity providing free musical instruments and lessons to young people in Todmorden as his Masters charities when he takes the chair for the first time in January.
Mrs Lloyd said “I want to express a huge thank you from all the staff, children and parents for the generosity East Lancashire Freemasons have shown. It will change lives for years to come and is greatly appreciated.”
John Taylor Rochdale District Charity Steward thanked Mrs Lloyd, the Staff and especially the children for making us feel so welcome, we were all impressed with the very positive and enthusiastic approach the staff have to learning and a very positive influence to the lives of all their pupils and Rochdale District and in particular ELMC were delighted to have helped in a small way.
